About

Welcome! My name is Takuma Kamada (written as 鎌田拓馬 in Japanese). I am an associate professor of Osaka School of International Public Policy (OSIPP) at Osaka University in Japan. I am also an affiliate of Center for Evidence-Based Policy Making (CEPO) at OSIPP.

My research seeks to understand the causes and consequences of crime and enforcement. In particular, I study (i) the conditions under which institutional contexts affect crime and (ii) how crime-related events shape community relationship and social inequality. I exploit quasi-experimental research designs to examine these interrelated questions, with a particular emphasis on illegal markets in different ethno-racial contexts.
